ok peeps, got one of these on the newegg closeout for $56. the OC.Com database sez these are oc'ing to 1700-2000 - anyone played with one of these? I assume these are locked, right? the guys at overclcokers aren't even unlocking them because they can pull 166-200 fsb but i don't think that my pc 2100 is gonna pull that weight :)

will report back :)

LOL i just got one of these in today too John... Haven't slapped it in but i hear 1.8 gig is no sweat and 1.9-2 is very reachable as long as you have some pc2700... 2 gigs on this chip will run the fSB at 188Mhz...

Well i got mine in... 1.86 Gig 10.5x178... not to shabby out of a 1.4 gig chip :) wish i had my Epox 8K3A+ still... I miss the 3.1 Vmem and 2.2Vcore it had... I can boot into windows at 1.9 gig but after a couple min it locks up seems like is ram. 2.0v's i'm only running 113F under a load idle is 107...

what kind of cooling have you got on it? 1.86 isn't toooo shabby ;)

i dropped it in my ak31 rev2 but i guess i need a bios upgrade - didn't recognize it - how i hate to undo all those cables!

I'm using the Dr Thermal EXTREME that i did the review on... This HSF is a killer combo :D

up and running at 1.4

flashed the bios and now it recognizes it but methinks i may be light in the power supply department - when i first booted it showed core voltage at 1.71 - i added +.25 and now it is at 1.74, but my 5v is dipping to 4.84 - i have a good enermax 350 watter but i also have 2 hdd, cd, dvd, cdrw, ide zip and a floppy and about 4 case fans :)

i tried booting at 150 fsb but it didn't work :)

i'll play with it more later - temp is about 6 C higher than the 1333 it replaced, but i had the voltage turned down on that one -

i may not get much of an overclock on this board because it's just an old-fashioned kt266

it's fun to get 1.4 gig chips for less than $60 though :)

Especially when you can overclock the 57 dollar chip and get 1.85 gig out of it :D Once the Iwill KK400 comes out i'm gonna snag one of those i think... Suppose to be the ultimate overclocking board ever from what i've read.

got my shuttle ak35gt2 up and running - booted at 150fsb(1.575 ghz) solid folding, 3dmark etc., booted at 166 (1.75 ghz) but not fully stable - i'm using mixed ram so that may be the prob - haven't really had time to fool with it yet - temps are very good with dr thermal with stock fan - 40c @ 150 fsb full load - c media is nice too

"I'm using the Dr Thermal EXTREME that i did the review on... This HSF is a killer combo "

umm, jus wondering where this review was at. couldn't find it in the archive, mebbe i didn't look far enuf tho. if this baby is a good one, i may hafta get it =)
Also, how foolish would it be to try to OC in a case w/out fans? i have a 120 fan blowing air in the fron and one out the back, but no blowholes or fans that shoot out the top. waiting on some AS alumna so i can pop this 1600 in. and last, what temps (norm) should i be looking at when i get this in. i will be running this with 2x 256 2100's, and a gf2mx. will i need to put heatsinks not only on the ram, but also on the vid card?. and i have a raid config setup, so i shouldn't hafta cool that should i? running 2 IBM60gxp's in a mirror.

one last question. i keep gettin drops in my core voltages. is this becuz i have a crappy psu? its a 350 generic.

srry to ask all these questions, but need to learn somehow right?!?! :D TIA

Its on the left hand side of the main page. The archives are old old reviews. U don't need sinks on the ram nor worr yabout cooling the HDD's but those are ibm's and death will come soon enough for those anyways. If you've got a 120 rear and front that should be more than enough to move cool air through the case.

ok. so what is the point of putting heatsinks on ram then?? don't u want them on there so if u push past their capable fsb, u can in essence oc the ram along with the cpu? or am i missing something here.

I've got some Samsung Pc2700 no sink and can hit 220fsb with real low timings on it... The whole ramsink thing is a myth. some say it helps some say it don't... If you touch the ram it very seldom is warm to the touch.

ok

results of litlle more fooling around

stable at 150 fsb/188/376 mem bus
sandra mem 2290/2143
cpu arith 4463/2191
mem at 2.5

stable at 160 fsb/320 mem bus mem timing 2.0-3-3-2
cpu 4736/2338
mem 2822/2154
mem at cas 2

can't get it to boot at 166 even at 2.0 almost makes it into winblows but locks up

doesn't look this cpu wants to go over 160 fsb at the moment - mem was close to 200/400 before and that was with two unmatched sticks

shuttle ak35gt2 rev 2
256 mb mushkin pc3000

Turn off the 1.33 mult for the ram and run it 1:1 i think thats probably whats holding your back at hte moment... The AGOIA and AROIA chips will run 166 no problem with little voltage adj on the core. It sounds like your memory is giving you the stability problems... I'm at 175 FSB right now with my AROIA
