I am learning about watercooling and just had a few question. Why have many ppl said to get the 86 Chevette heater core. Wht is the benefit compared to the Maxxxpert 120mm Radiator, the 4100 Cooling Cube radiator, or any other one that you can think of? I also plan to watercool be graphics card and cpu. Wht setups do you think would be best for this? I plan on using a InnovaCOOL Copper-core Water Block for my cpu and a Nvidia GPU and RAM cooler for my graphics card. Finally, wht kind of Eheim pump should I use?

Price ... that's most likely why the praise the corvette heatercore ... dunno about the Maxxxpert ... the Cooling Cube, if that's the one I remember, is about average .... a nice high performace radiator, though expensive, is >

The InnovaCOOL Rev3 should be great for the CPU and I guess they have a nice one for the GPU.
You should be happy with the Eheim 1048 pump.

The Chevette heater core is popular because it is small enough to fit inside a decent sized case, has fittings that are easy to adapt for use with 1/2 tubing, the fittings are in a good location and it is cheap.
Do not worry about whether it will perform as well as a radiator you will pay much more for. It will shed as much heat as any of the high priced radiators sold by anybody.

Thx
I have a few more questions about the heater core. I one I want is the GDI HEATER CORE for a 1986 CHEVROLET CHEVETTE for 16.99? Also, it was said that the tubes were 1/2in, but the blocks are 3/8in. Wht do I need to do to make the tubing fit both the heater core and the blocks? Finally, do I need to do any mods to the heater core so I can put some 120mm fans on the it?

The two pipes on the chevette core are 5/8 and 1/2 inch actual diameter. If you know how to solder you can get 3/8 x 1/2 NPT brass barbs and slide the threaded part (with the threads) on the outside over the ends of the heater core fittings and solder them on. Otherwise you can get 3/8 x 1/4 NPT barbs and use JB Weld epoxy to fasten them in the pipes. Take the heater core with you to the hardware store or home depot or wherever and figure it out.
Alternatively, 1/2 internal diameter tygon or silicone hose will stretch over the chevette core fittings. Find a 1/2 to 3/8 barbed adapters and you are ready to go.
