CPU Temperature

For a minute, pretend you're not an overclocker, 'cause I'm not.
I am running an XP 1800+ and have a TT Volcano 7+ HSF.
The fan has 3 speeds. I love running it on low as it's very quiet.
But the CPU temp. is around 50-55C if I do that. Is this a safe temp? Many thanks.

Those temp are high enough that if it were my system I would be doing something to lower them. Those temps are under a load I hope. Are you using software to monitor temps? I have been using MBM5 for a long time and then I got a dual temp monitoring set up and found that MBM was reading my CPU temp about 3-5 degrees cooler than it actually is and the hotter it gets the bigger the error in reading it is. Maybe just run it on low when you are surfing and doing email and then crank it up when playing games or anything that is CPU intensive.

i would at least keep the fan on medium

I have an XP1800 and the temps according to both the BIOS and SiSoft Sandra show between 50-55C. But thats with the standard cooler.

I have a TT volcano 7+ ordered so I'm hoping I will see a big improvement on my temps when that arrives.
