I was putting together a spare rig and was looking at my processor and discovered a chip on the silver part ( the chip??). It is an athlon t-bird 1.2 - Is it sh!t or should I give it a try??? It's about the size of a pin head in the upper right hand corner. I think the hsf should still lie flat. Anyone got an opinion???

The center raised part is the main part of the cpu. When installing and taking off these heavy heatsinks a chip can happem. But try it, I have one that works fine with a few chips. But I have another that doesn't. It's a general belief that a chip or chips will mean less of a life span, if it does work. It won't hurt anything to try it.

Thanks Blade. I'll give it a try. I just wasn't sure if it would screw up my new sh!t!!
