Vid man likes them. I have a 1.2g duron, it is nice and everything but I havent OC'ed it. the lower speed XP's though are cheap and I would sugest them.

Greg has a good point what with the lower clocked XP's coming down in price etc........ http://www.tcwo.com lowered their prices again last nite. Check their prices on P-watch and then phone the order in for lowest price. Their prices on their site are sometimes higher than the advertised P-watch prices. What with them being an excellent vendor a $7 dollar shipping, you may want to grab a 1500+(10x multi) or 1600+(10.5 multi). If you get lucky and get an AGOGA-y or AGOIA-y stepping, you can prolly crank anywhere from 1633 to 1700 MHz with one of those.

Newegg has the 1500+ for $91 shipped. That gives you the sweet 10x multi too. :)

I"d wait just few more days or a week as I think AMD is gonna announce the t-breds anytime now. XP+ prices are dropping quite rapidly and that usually signals that vendors are clearing out inventory in anticipation of a new release.

Don't expect much OCing headroom from a 1.3 . I hear they only go to like 1390-1400. I'd get a 1.2 and hope that maybe you come up with a good core that will do 1.33 or 1.4 GHz. I like them because you get SSE support, have the easy to unlock L1 bridges, and they run cooler than t-birds. Great for a family rig or 2nd system.

Get yourself a mechanical pencil and unlock the L1 bridges and you're good to go. As you can see in my sig, I have a 1.0 running 1.2 GHz with a FSB of 185. I'm able to pull over 7100 3dmarks with that setup. That's w/ the GF3 ti200 OCed to like 220/500 using coolbits.

I got the Duron for the sole reason of seeing what this Samsung/XP333R was capable of with regards to front side bus speeds. I'll prolly keep it as a spare cpu once I move this rig up to low end XP+ or simply shoot the works and get a 2000+ and unlock it. :)

Hey Greg, Like get the pencil out and see what that 1.2 Duron will do already !!! :D

Gotta say the XP's are a better bet/value for any overclocking I think. I just picked up my third XP for 77 fjor a 1700+ from the forums, new oem from a trader and they are all capable of about 2000+ speeds with decent cooling and the ability to get the fsb up there.

I seem to be limited to about 145fsb on my 2 epox and a gigabyte mb with good mem settings. The KT333 cs sounds good but I always wait for the "A" models from Via.

I just picked up a slightly used Asus tualitan mb and a 1.1a retail celeron and thats doing 1.466/133fsb fine so far with a bigger fan but stock voltage, 1.475! That's sure impressed me although the memory bandwidth of sdram is pretty poor compared to the ddr at double bus.
