Newer, used mobo w cpu, ram. It was running A-OK at default setting until I tryed to bump up the settings (voltage to 1.85, multiplier and frequency) but apparently it's set for more than it can do but after exiting the bios (re-adjusting settings), it won't even try to boot where I can go back in. I have no video now.
I've tryed resetting and turning the power off for a while (which has worked for me in the past with other mobos).
Hopefully I'm not SOL with that mobo

should be a CMOS jumper to short out, to clear bios, if not pull the power cord and battery for a while.

It came back to life again after the power cord was out for a while so fortunately that worked. Does get me a bit worried when that happens though.

Good advice. Also, unplug the power cord before you clear the CMOS and let it sit for 30 seconds or so before you boot up. How were your temps when you were at default settings? What fan/HS are you using? Thermal Paste?

On your next attempts, try going up in small increments of FSB and running a few 3dmark loops at each incrememnt to insure stability before proceeding with a higher setting.

It's also best when doing initial OCing attempts to only use the bare minimum of components ( AGP card, HDD, cdrom, ONE stick of RAM ) so it's easier to isolate anything that isn't cooperating.

If you're using PC2700 you may want to flash to the latest mobo BIOS revision as well. I've read where some mobos have had imcompatiblilites with the 512MB sticks of Samsung PC2700 until that was done. Case in point, my Iwill XP333.

It's presently not even OCing at all (1.4 ghz t-bird won't do 10X145, 1,450mhz) as it'll crash when the devices load up initializing the desktop and I suspect the #1 culpret is my SB Live Value soundcard as that's often troublesome for me whenever I upgrade or change almost anything with new hardware.
I'll later play with it, removing that pesky card first.

I know there are reports of peeps getting SB Lives to work well with VIA chipsets but none of them came from me.

I can't tell ya how happy I was to wave "bye-bye" to my last SB Live product.

The in-expensive SB 16 is a good choice otherwise as I've installed those in my 2 cheapo PCs here w/o ever having probs with those. That SB Live has always been a major issue and it's a resource hog too IMO.

Ya SB Lives suck major ass... It wasthe culprit with me and 155 FSB with my XP333... Buh bye to it though

I've had that boot problem a lot on failed overclocking. It's no biggie and easy to fix as others said.

As for the sb live, I also got sick of them and their intricacies so now i use the cmedia 8738 5.1 soundcard. It's the same sound card in mobo's like the Dragon + and others and to me it sounds better than the live value.

I got it before christmas for $13 with free shipping but here's one place that sells it, although I think their shipping is too high. Otherwise check pricewatch if interested in this card.

Always updated drivers on their website and it's never given me any sb live-like hassles at all.

Another trick on most motherboards is right after you hit the power button start hitting the insert key... Most boards when u do this will default the FSB temporarily back to 100 or 133 so you can get into bios and adjust it... but on your next reboot if it ain't changed it will go back to what it was then u get to do it all over again...

At that place, they're now out of stock but at that price, it'd be hard to go wrong. I'll look on Pricewatch, thanks.

BUT at that page, the specs don't look the exact same, the cards name and # aren't the same so can I assume it's the same card?
