What fries on an Over Overclocked system??

Post by canton_kid »

I haven't been doing any over clocking myself yet, but thinking hard about it!

Currantly I have an Amd 1700xp, Biostar M7VIB M/b, and 256mb DDR ram.

If I over clock wrong what am I gonna frie?? Just a cpu?

I see the 1700xp is down to about $122 for just a cpu, retail kit a bit higher with fan.

I could maybe replace the cpu or ram but not everything if I screwup!

Also if the M/b fries is there any chance of taking out the drives?? No way I could buy new drives on my budget. About 95 cents most the time it seems.

Thanks

I've overclocked for 4 years now and have yet to fry anything... If you have proper cooling on the CPU there is really no need to worry... The components will let you know what their limit is...

Is a Duron 1 gig worth buying and over clocking?

Can get one about dirt cheap now. Was thinking about one for the kids system.
Would it be worth messing with?

if it's the morgan core they are real good overclockers - vidman has a post here somewhere - also you can go to http://www.overclockers.com and look in their database
