A7M266 troubles

Stupid thing will run at 1000 (10x100) with a 1.33GHz Bird in it. When I put it on 1333 (10x133), it boots up but starts tossing out Illegal Ops. I have tried original VIA 4in1 and the latest 4in1. Still the same.
Specs:
Athlon 1.33GHz
Asus A7M266
Sparkle 350w PS (AMD Approved)
256megPC2100 Crucial
Voodoo5 5500 AGP
Samsung 4x DVD
Sony 8x CD-RW
1.44 floppy
40GB ATA 100 WD
Onboard sound
Asound PCI NIC
Windows98SE - Clean install
One game installed. 5 minutes into playing at 1.33GHz, it quits with an illegal op directed at the EXE file for the game. At 1000MHz, it runs without any problems. Any suggestions ? All jumpers are set properally.

Is it possible to have a bad processor ? It runs perfect at 10x100.

Did this just start happening? Be sure any jumper is set to 133 on the mobo or in the bios. Not familar with that mobo so perhaps check the manual if you're not sure but most I've worked with have to be set manually.
If it is already set at 133 then I'd clear cmos and reset the bios and try again at 10x133.

I tried it in jumper free mode and jumper mode. I might pull my 1.33 and try it on that board today.
**EDIT**
Put the processor from the A7M266 in my comp and it runs at 1.33GHz. The A7M must be defective.

Are you using the same RAM in both boards? If not, maybe the RAM could be your problem.

The board is screwed up. The processor ran fine in mine and I tried the ram from my setup in the A7M. Unfortunately, I fried the damned bird because I forgot to clip one side of the heatsink down.

The proc looks normal, no burn marks or smell.
It has a three year warranty. Maybe I'll RMA it seeing how it doesn't look burnt.

Well that sure sux.

Crushed mine from changing heatsinks too much so I know how aggrevating that feels. Hopefully amd with replace yours.
