I have a Celery 2 566@850 Mhz it's currently around 50C (working temp). Have a extra large heatsink/fan combo + 2 case fans but a cheap ass case that I think is causing the heat problems.
Am I in the safe zone or is it way to hot?
After playing Q3A/UT for a few hours it's sometimes around 60C and that's pretty scary

Maybe I'm worrying for nothing?

Sounds a little hot to me. I think anytime the temp gets to 50 or higher you are at risk of doing damage. I had a simular heat problem not quite that hot but hot enough to concern me. I had big CPU cooler and case fans but the case design sucked. I got an Antec SX830 and now my CPU at it's hottest is 35 degrees under a full load. I think a good rule of thumb is if your case can run at the same temp with covers of as it does when they are on you have succeeded

you got the usual heatsink paste on right? Heatsink is FLAT on the cpu? Can't see space when you hold up to light?
My 700E at 933 runs in low 40's under load. Is your voltage
cranked way up? Just some things to check. 60 is getting way up there.
good luck,

Yes it's flat on the cpu and I've tried a lot of different heatsinks so I guess my case really sucks.
Believe it or not, I didn't even have to raise the core voltage and it's rock stable!

just curious Ozzy, but you getting that reading out of bios or off a proggie like MBM? If it's MBM or similar program it could be giving you phony reading.

Good thing you just told me that, I just checked with Sandra 2001 Professional and it showed 5C colder than in bios, which one should I trust?
...And is MBM better?

Seems pretty hot to me. Anything above mid 40's is aging your proc early. My old celly at 2.3v under load runs low to mid 30's.
