The wife thinks I am crazy. I ran a 4" dryer vent from the basement window to the case fan on the side of my PC. Due to the high humidity over night, I pull the vent out of the window and let it draw a mixture of room air and outside air.

Specs:
Athlon 1.33GHz (266 FSB)not O/C'd
Asus A7A266 w/1007 bios
400watt PS
512megsPC2100 Crucial
Voodoo5 5500 AGP
SB Live X-gamers
30gig ATA66 5400 rpm WD
16x Pioneer slot load DVD
20x10x40 Yamaha 2200E CDRW
NetGear 310 NIC

With out the ducted air intake, temps were :
Ambient temp 24ºC/75ºF
System temp 30ºC/86ºF
CPU :
No load 47ºC/117ºF
Full load 55ºC/131ºF

With the duct connected :
At time of post 10ºC/50ºF air intake
System temp 28ºC/82ºF
CPU:
No load 34ºC/93ºF
Full load 37ºC/99ºF

If you used pvc piping, instead of the flexible stuff, your cooling would be more efficient. what you could do is install ball valves to close the flow from the basement, and another to open to the air in your room too.
