A couple of days back, my dear Epox 8K7A crapped out w/ the ever so famous "FF" error... since I'm low on cash and need my PC back up ASAP for my classes, I ran out to a local dealer for a K7S5A... I figured what the hell... might as well give it a try... it's cheap and if it blows, I can always replace it when my RMA'd Epox comes in.
Just flashed my BIOS to enable the extra FSB's (thanks Greg)
Initially, my system would only do the 138FSB... pretty crappy I thought...
After some tweaking in the memory settings (there's only a couple to play w/... unlike the 761 boards out there) I've found my stable settings for my Crucial PC2100 2.5CL DDR:
Ultra
2.5T
7
4
So what speed am I running at now? 150FSB!!!!! Currently folding w/ no probs so far... I LOVE MY K7S5A... keep in mind the board has NO VOLTAGE TWEAKS AND NO MULT. TWEAKS... I guess this board's 3 phase power design really adds to the stability...
Here's the specs btw:
K7S5A
Crucial PC2100 2.5CL 256MB
Athlon 1.4GHz AYHJA cooled w/ a SK6+ fan from a Volcano cooler
There's also a CardCooler XT for the rest of the system
Using a 400w Antec PS
Holy Crap The K7s5a Kicks A$$!!!!!!

that is kool. Ill try those settings next time I restart. I just ordered a 1.4g for my self. exactly with this board NOT having multiplier options you are pritty stuck with FSB and that kind of suks when there are only a few. but if your chip is already at the Blisteringpoint all you are doing is Taping it out.

hmmm... ran some more tests using a CPU stability test proggy...
not so good...
methinks the memory is crapping out.... the highest I've ever gotten my crucial to go was 143mhz...
I may need to order some PC2400 DDR...

i dunno what to make of this...
i can't run prime95...
can't run my cpu stability proggy...
but i can use the burnin wizard in sandra 2001 ... runs just dandy ...
i KNOW that the CPU is working @ 100% load in the burn in wizard.... I've been running it for the last 10Hrs just fine...
dunno what to make of this... i think it's stable at 150FSB... not sure... but just in case i ordered some mushkin pc2400 ram... not too shabby a deal too... $62 w/ free shipping for 256mb
