A7A266/1330@1498 Bird temps

Post by NascarFool »

I get the same temp readings in the bios as I do with MBM5.09 and Asus probe. But with my Raytek infrared thermometer I get readings that are 34ºF lower. Later today I will remove the HSF and put a themal sensor wire next to the die and get temp readings. This pic shows my everyday temps. No problems at all at this high temp.

53c ! what hs do you use

Dumb question, I know you won't let that bird fly w/out putting the heatsink and fan back? :eek:

BTW, what kind of PS are you using?

I'm curious as to what a thermocouple next to the die will read also, I've got a CompuNurse sitting here, but hate to go to the trouble of opening up and removing the stuff to set it up. MBM says;

1.33 at 1.5, 1.92V, 118F under Folding load.

Ambient is 78, system is 80F

+5 V is 4.93 with Enermax 465P-VE

Weird power supply temp though, only 73F. Wonder where that is coming from?

My bios readings are identical to.

NF, are you running the Delta off your mobo header? Or have an adapter to it and running from power supply?

Sethpa, it is on an adapter to a 4 pin connection. I did manage to run a wire to the header for the RPM reading. Here are some pics. Caution 56Kers, these are big pics.

Wow! 96F under load! You got that thermocouple right up against the die? Did you tack it down with something to hold it in place? I was thinking about using a tiny spot of superglue to tack it next to the die when I get to installing it. And why would the MBM reading be so different? I've heard the Asus temps read as much as 10 degrees hotter than other mobos though. But even then that's still a +20 degree difference. No wonder you can clock so well without a voltage change, mine won't do squat without a bump up on the Vcore. And at 2.00 volts it gets pretty warm, or so MBM says. I'm even thinking about boring a hole into the heat sink, and placing the TC right over the center of the die. Now I'm really wondering about actual temps :bonk

I put the probe just under the HSF toward the fron of the comp. The stupid probe wire was too thick. I had it as pictured and when I hit the power, my digital meter jumped to 174ºF as I was pulling the power cord out of the power supply. :D Now it is about a ½" from the die.

I think you can peel back the protective covering from the wire, to make it thin enough. Right behind the end of the thermocouple. It kind of bulges out and then gets smaller on the end. It shouldn't hurt it any and you can get it right up against the die. Otherwise it's probably just reading the air temp between the die and the heatsink. Damn, this sounds like it could be hazardous to a 'birds health :)

I know what your saying Mike, it's like they dip it in a clear, liquid insulation, and hang it to dry.

I would luv to get mine (Air-cooled), down to 35c. Best I get is 37c.
And with this heatwave we're experiencing here in NYC, that was a while ago :(
