vid card sent south last night while playing with this setup - it was a softmod 9500/9700 - appeared to be overheating - would just stop during gaming - clocked it back, raised voltage, etc.
will have to move some vid cards around tonite
Were you OCing the vid card? I usually don't during initial OC testing.
Misery loves company tho, don't feel lonely. I had a 22" iiyama AG tube monitor say "see ya" the other day. Just went to black with the power button still showing green. Have to love the fact that it's like 3 months past the warranty expiration date. arrrrrrrrrrrgh !!

of course the vid card was oc'd
and softmodded too
anyway clocked the whole system back to 2.1ghz and it ran a couple of loops of aqaumark last night without a problem - it may be a ps issue - just not enough juice to get it done - still getting 34xxx in aquamark which is fast enough atm - may also be an issue with it being an older mobo and not truly comfortable at 200 fsb
i'll play with it some more and see this weekend.......kids have been real fractious lately and i don't want to spend my 1 hr of of gaming time playing with the cmos jumper

I can sure relate to that ! Both with my kidz and my PC !!

agree w/ them for the most part. Not sure about the choice of the NF7-S for "serious" OCing of the mobiles tho as from what I've been reading, an L12 mod is in order if one wants to see the real high FSB speeds with them whereas the DFI boards don't seem to need it. Banand prolly gets Abit moolah tho, hence the plug. NF7-S is a nice mobo no doubt (had one). Lousy layout and ugly PCB scared me off this time around.
Today was play day today for me as wife "made" me take an extra day off so she could go to the home and flower show in Philly. The nerve.
Was able to get a RAID 0 set together on the sil3114 ( sil3114 = slow but faster than a single ). I then saved a stable 12x217 BIOS config in "CMOS reloaded" ( nice feature on the newer DFI mobos ) and set out for some crazy high FSB OCing. Booted into windows and ran benchmarks at as high as 236 FSB but couldn't get it gaming stable with even 1.9v on the cpu.
My guess is either cooling....... as I'm only using air ( SLK800 ) or chipset / mem voltage. Backed things down to 11.5x227 and it ran great !! I've notched it up to 11.5 x 228.6 / 2629 MHz ( per WCPUID ) and it's still stable, so that will be the "play area" for the next few days.
I wholeheartedly recommend these chips if ur into OCing. 24,25,2600+ whatever mobiles. They are smokin'.
1.85v cpu
1.9v chipset
2.9v mem
Buffalo Winbond BH-5 running 8-3-3-2-2cas @ nearly 229 FSB. schweet !

personally I wouldnt go over 1.875 on air, unless you need your chip to only last a 4 months or so. That being said, my water cooling setup should be here any day- Really wish I could afford this setup right now (Maybe If i get a promotion im trying to get) ... In opion whats the best MOBO i can get for 1 bill or less?

IMHO, hands down, this is the shizz nforcer 2 @ less than 100 bux. Especially if you want to OC. Sweet layout, OCing options up the wazoo, 4x SATA, firewire, USB 2.0, ability to store BIOS configs ( CMOS reloaded ), runs mobiles as unlocked, very good o/b sound and LAN, represented support on amdmb.com etc. etc.

$94.50 free shipping 2 day air. Newegg is $94 but you'll pay sales tax seeing as you live NJ. Again, just my opinion, but you could do ALOT worse.

It's all done.
See sig for details on voltages, multi's and FSB. I'll leave them up for a couple days for anyone that's interested. Rig is prime95 stable and mucho fast.
Here's a visual for youse who kan't reed.....

I went with the lower clock speed (2557 MHz) and lower voltage on the cpu ( 1.82v instead of 1.85v ) and the higher 243.6 FSB. It's all good
:
Temps are 42-43C load, 33-34C idle according to both my BIOS health reporting and MBM 5.3x.
Conclusions:
1) Winbond BH-5 memory chips are as good as it gets. I never thought I'd see cas2 @ 244 FSB !! Stuff is awesome.
If you can find some of this stuff, by all means grab it.
2) Same with DFI Ultra Infinity. Excellent layout, supreme OCer, CMOS reloaded, impressive stability at stratospheric FSB speeds and a bargain at $94 what with all the features you get.
**Only downside is the add-on Sil3114 SATA / RAID controller. It is a below average performer. RAT (random access time) is fine, but large file transfer write speeds are shakey. Read times are better. The VIA integrated SATA devastates it on all benches.
3) I'm glad I got the xpm2600+ as some people on some other forums are having to lay heavier voltage on the xpm24 and 25's to hit 2.5 GHz. IMHO, it was worth the extra loot for teh xpm26+. You can't beat a starting point of 2130 MHz @ default 1.45vcore! One hell of a chip. With a Tornado or other such noisemaker ( not interested in that myself, thank you), 2.6 would be easy and even 2.7 GHz would be a reasonable goal with this chip.
Hopefully, seeing my results on a KT600 mainboard in addition to the nforce2 platform may help someone should they be thinking of upgrading to a mobile XP in the future.
Have a good one and.......
Cheers, da Vidster.

slowly creeping up on you Vid,
swapped the 8rda+ rev 1.x for the 8rda3g which is much more friendly to a 400 mhz bus - just loafing now at 2.4 @1.65 @ 42C folding - pretty sure this chip has quite a bit of headroom left but the memory i have probably won't make it past 210, if that
the video and freeze problems seem to have been related to the 200 fsb on the 8rda

try 12.5 x 200 @ 1.8v and if it does that, back the voltage off to 1.775 or so. I'm betting it lights that up without a prob.
That's my next step. Trying to move down the cpu and chipset voltage. I'm happy w/ the speed and fsb.
Too bad you aren't using a DFI.
If you get that proc to either 2.5 GHz or 250FSB, They'll make you a free "toaster" bbs sig like this. :laugh
