Intel 11900k Overclocking... can it make up for its lack of cores?

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Jeez. That's a monster of a motherboard, but I guess that's what it takes for serious overclocking.

I mainly posted this because it's interesting to see how he goes through the process of getting overclocks setup in BIOS. Pretty cool that mobo can run 5100 MHz Ram without a problem. Frankly I think that's more important than CPU overclocking nowadays, which is mostly for bragging rights. I'm very happy I chose to go with the 3700 MHz RAM on my build.

Heh. I don't feel so bad now about my old habit of testing the mobo out of the case by sitting it on top of the mobo packaging box. Looks like Jayz does also. I thought he'd use some fancy testing cage :)

I do this as well. Have done it for many years.
