Voltages.

Post by 123cool »

im not quite sure where to put this but here it goes anyway. i was just wondering what voltages are acceptable in a computer system.

i have a 350Watt PSU, and according to MBProbe my voltages are:

+2.5v = 4.95
+3.3v = 3.30
+5v = 4.70
+12v = 11.61
-5v = 1.89
-12v = 0.72

does anyone know if these are ok?

your +12v rail looks low, however, that also depends on what motherboard you are using. A DFI NF2 Ultra will report low voltages. Also MBProbe is really not reliable for voltage reporting. The best thing to do is look in your bios and see what is reported.

they look fine. a little low is acceptable. If it was my system I wouldnt even think about it.

well i did that just know heres what my mobo says.

vcore = 1.76
+3.30v = 3.28
+5.00v = 4.75
+12.00 = 12.22

now im worried about the 5v line it looks quite low to me.

P.S
while i was there i also noticed that my case fan wasnt reporting a rpm, but its definatly spinning.

Case fans will only report an rpm if they are plugged into the motherboard headers, and if they have the third wire for the rpm signal

Is your system stable ? It looks fine. I wouldn't worry about it if it's stable.

yeah my systems stable. the fan used to report a speed of 2500rpm but it doesnt anymore i checked the connection with another fan and the other fan reported a rpm so there must be something dodgy with the 80mm one.

ok, i've been keeping out of this to see if it was just me or not, but now I can't stay quiet about it anymore.

The first part where you post voltage numbers, you say 2.5 = 4.95

Umm...which voltage it this one?

that reading is off mbprobe at the moment it says that the +2.5V = 4.92. think it could just be an error with MBprobe.

5v between 4.75 & 5.25
12v between 11.4 & 12.6
5v standby 4.75 & 5.25

think the 3.3v line is a bit low but dont think i would wory too much about the 3.3volt line.
