Overclocking the Athlon 64 3200+

Post by eGoCeNTRoNiX »

Anybody seen anything on this yet? I'm debating on saving up even more money and getting one of these monsters set up, or just getting a barton for now and waiting till prices come down on the 64's. I tried getting into the cpu database at overclockers.com but it's not pulling up for me. Any thoughts?

It's fast, but don't think it's worth the money yet. God knows how long till they have a decent 64 bit OS out, and then the software that will work with it. Also, the current mobos are soon to be outdated when the new pin configuration comes out this summer. And no bets at all as to compatibility yet.

You're better off getting a Mobile XP Barton. They OC like crazy and are much cheaper.

first off, the athlon 64 isnt gana be outdated with a new pin set it is staying the same, it is the athlon FX that is going from 940 to 939.

presently there ocing ant all that great from what I understand. it doest ok and ocing helps a bit but all the kinks arnt worked out with mboards yet. with the new nvidia 250nforce comming out soon that might get some of the stuff done.
