Overclocking the XP 2500 Barton
hello im new here name's perc
dude i used to use the 8rda+ and got many many good months of ocing out of it infact it was the first 10 months of 2003 and the board will probly go down as one of my favorite ocing mb of all time BUT the 8rda3+ is not the same mb and doesnt run the same nor does it deserve the same reputaion of the 8rda/8rda+ series mb's... when i had the 8rda my avg every day oc was 12x200 and that was about it the fsb might have gone up a few mhz here and there but i usaly just left it there. now two months ago i got the abit NF7 rev 2.0 mb just to see what i was missing out on? well turns out that mb gave me 250fsb right out the box no mods (not benchmark stable ofcourse but i could surf the net and talk on msn while posting on my fav ocing sites board's) max benchmarkable and stable fsb wound up being 235 wich still isnt bad considering its box stock no mods right? now i run the xp2500 Barton in this NF7 @ 2500mhz 466 fsb as my every day pc! infact that system puts my abit IC7/2.4c intel system in it's place! i can get as much or more out of the amd @ 2500mhz then i can with the intel at 3200 mhz! infact only now have i got the intel to step up and starting to put some woop arse on the Barton rig! thats after months of tweeking and lots of reading about other peoples trials and erors!
well good luck in your choice of mb's dude. id recomend either the abit NF7 series or the 8rda+ series i wouldnt give you two cents for the 8rda3+ ( now i know there are some good running 8rda3's out there but the one i had rev1.1 sucked) sorry if i went off topic a little.....
peace perc,
