Warning!! Speed freak and XP2600+...

Post by Demrok »

Alrighty I AM the speed freak :)
I figure because my PC is blowing very cold air from it's fans it could USE some tweaking! :D

my setup

MSI K7N2 Delta
Athalon XP 2600+ @2.018 (I thought it was sposed to be 2.1something....)
1x512 400mhz

I want to push this thing up! up!! and away!!! :D
how well of an over clocker is this CPU?
I need unlocking instructions ;) still use a pencil?

and I have a pretty decent copper cored "stock" HSF, I don't think it's an actual stock fan...
but it keeps things SUPER cool...

anyone help me get this thing smokin!? :) I mean... not really smokin ;)
thanks guys! I wanted to ask the experts here first :D 4

FSB

You can step up the FSB bit by bit and see what you get. But it's already pretty fast w/o unlocking the CPU. Some motherboards, A7N8X and 8RDA+ and others, unlock them for you. GL eGo

how can I step it up if it's locked?
I have an MSI K7N2 Delta, I can go in 1mhz incriments, so the manual says

and does anyone know where I can get info on unlocking this thing?

and yeah I'll agree it's prety fast by itself :)
but still... I wonder... :D

thanks!
*edit*
NM, I see now that the FSB goes up and uses the 12.5 locked Multiplier to get my speed :D
I will keep editing and let you know how this goes!!

1st OC - 2192.47mhz! temp when I was in the bios was 38-44 degrees sitting idle
2nd OC - 2214.85mhz! temp is 43-51 in bios not too bad I guess... I think I'll pick up some Arctic Silver and a better heatsink if I wanna go any more then this :D

anyone know of a good prog that lets you see the temp???

2.2ghz not too shabby !!

temps from in windows via PC alert 4, came with my mobo

thanks guys, and Timmy :)

and I think the Diode is the better temp... isn't it?
I think it gives the more accurate temp because it is RIGHT THERE, where as the CPU is a sensor not actually touching anything

unless I am ass backwards on that one :D
