This morning I was changing the heatstick , but I put some extra silver compound ! and FLAMES !!!!!!!
Shut man!
I will prefer the grease , the silver shity compund is a shihti**

The victim was a palomino xp2100 . Now I have xp2400+

sounds like A the heatsink wasn't on right or B you put to much AS on and it shorted it out...

i vote b as ive seen it to many times on athlons - only killed 1 chip is was a 300a@598
which was faster then anything itel had on the maket at the time (p2 450)
peltier went bad on me and that was all she wrote

WHAT HAPPENED IS THAT I PUT SOO MUCH "AS" THEN i TRIED TO PUT THE HEATSINK GOLIATH OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT , IT WAS TOO BIG AND HEAVY , I COULDNT PUT WELL AND I GUESS AS PREDATOR SAID , THAT WHEN I PUSH HARD THE "AS" SLPIT AL OVER THE CPU AND WELL THAT DID THE REST !

JUST WONDERING IF THE NORMAL GREASE COMPUND COULD DO THE SAME?

Did it break your capslock key too ? :D Put on a very thin layer and it will be fine.

all u need is a small bit about the size of a small piece or rice... anymore than that and its total waste and 95% of it gets squished out anyways when the heatsink is put on.... )*

I've only ever static fried ONE AMD chip ever... my TBird 1.4ghz 266fsb :(
Only one out of maybe 40 AMD chips I've worked with/put HS's on in 2-3years.

Augiz,

Sorry about those troubles. :(

I suggest using either arctic alumina or arctic ceramique from now on. Both are non-conductive and would not cause the problems you had. Plus both clean up far easier and perform as well too. ;)
