does the ABit BD7-II RAID have onboard 1394 firewire?

Post by Sunny129 »

i've read a review @ Overclockers Australia that says the board has no firewire capabilities. but the review @ [H]ardOCP seems to be a little contradicting. under the features section of the first page of the review, a table is shown. in the FireWire row, it claims to have 3 IEEE-1394a ports. however, in the introduction section above it, there is an i845E chipset chart that shows no firewire support integrated anywhere into the chipset. but we already know this b/c IEEE-1394a firewire never was a natively supported feature of the i845X chipset. so naturally, any firewire support would have to come in the form of an external controller somewhere on else on the board. however, nowhere else in the article (especially in the section that elaborates on externally controlled hardware features - onboard audio, lan, RAID, etc.) is a firewire controller mentioned. so my question is:

Is there any firewire support on the ABit BD7-II RAID? or is there a typo in HardOCP's review? or does a firewire controller come optional w/ this board?
