Wow new fan really lowered temps

Post by dadx2mj »

When I read Predator's review of the Dr Thermal Extreme http://www.pcabusers.com/reviews/drextreme/p1.html I got the idea of putting that big delta on my Alpha 8045. So I checked Pricewatch and found the 80x80x32 Delta for only $12 and ordered it up. Just before I installed the fan my temps were Case 28 CPU 42 this was with SETI running. So I shut id down and put the big Delta on there and fire it back up and let it run for a while now my temps are Case 28 and CPU 37. That is a pretty good drop. And like Predator said in his review the noise of this fan is not that bad. Now mind you I have 5 80mm case fans plus the fan on my HDD cooler and vid card and chipset. So while my case is not silent the noise is defiantly tolerable and nothing like the infamous 60mm 7200 rpm Deltas. With summer here anyone looking for more cooling might consider one of these big Delta fans.

I was surprised also, I was just sure it'd be worse than the other deltas I've tried buit it isn't that bad at all.

Not to fear though, crazypc made an se version with an even faster fan so that one must be too loud.

*If you can add one more to the front Randy then your pc will hoover, but be sure it is tied down first.
