Ax-7 and Variable speed fan? Room temps, Cpu Temps

Post by canton_kid »

Think I should use a temp sensing variable fan on my new AX-7 heat sink? Have not yet installed it!

That was my plan, but I am wondering about it?

Seems like the sensor will be reading the case temp more than the sink temp to me. Since it sticks out the side between the blades and motor, I think it would be reading the case air temps?

I plugged one into the back of my case and the system shows rpm around 3000. That indicates by the fan specks that it is about 30C - 35C in the case and pushing 35 - 37 cfm air at 29-30 dba. Room temp is 25C beside the case as checked with a lage indoor/outdoor thermometer. Cpu temps shows to be 59C using M/b sensor and winbond.

I have been watching the room temps and cpu temps. The Cpu stays pretty much 33c higher than the room temp! This is with the case open or shut, does not seem to make a difference. Last night it was 32C In the room, 65C Cpu with case open, installed new case fan, closed case, cpu stayed same temp.

I expect that to drop ALOT when I install the AX-7. Have to lapp it yet, didn't have time yesterday or the paper yet.

Can't control room temp, and trying to figure away to get accurate results reading the temp difference With the sinks.
