i have a lite-on DVD writer -VHS recorder unit .the DVD unit went bad and would not eject disks . i open up the unit and what i found is a lite-on model LMU--713H DVD /CD rewritable drive in there. manf. date of DEC.2005. the unit has a power plug and ribbon attached to it like a normal IDE unit we use in are computers. with out a face plate on it.
here is what I'm wondering can i use any lite-on or other makers burner /reader in this unit . or do i need a exact or special model replacement unit . the VHS unit is working just fine .
the wife using it to copy old home movies to dvd . she has really gave it a work out doing this . so any thoughts on just r/r the dvd drive ?

lite-on DVD recorder /player ?
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me.
I think you'd need to replace it with a Lite-on brand drive. Other than that, you should be able to replace it according to these threads:
