So that's why people were lining up outside of Gamestop at 8PM the other night and NOT LETTING ME IN THE STORE.

I do not envy the Gamestop employees on release nights. Burning Crusade release night was enough for me, thanks.

I like it but there are network issues they need to fit. I would expect to see a patch inthe next few days. Just like COD4 and MW2, the first release seems to have some buggy network code which results in annoying intermittent lag stutters.

Also the ingame server browser is totally messed up right now.

Gameplay is good. Maps are very good. I like the new earnings system where you earn COD points and then use them to buy better weapons, attachments, addons and perks. You still have to wait until you have a high enough level to unlock a weapon but then you have to buy it. This lets you skip over the weapons and items you really don't care about (for instance I couldn't care less about ever having a sniper rifle - I don't snipe). It also makes you feel you're earning something for your gameplay.

There's eve a gambling element (not my thing though) where you can wager some of your COD points in a match.

You can also buy contracts to which earn you more COD points if you fulfill the contracts.

Once they work out the bugs it'll be a good game.

How does the zombie mode work? Can you still play co-op with 4 friends? Also do you have to use a dedicated server that has zombies running, or does the lobby leader host the game?

The Zombies matchmaking system is all screwed up right now. I tried some single player.

Call of Duty: Black Ops PC lag issue patched:
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=275272
Activision has released a patch for the PC version of Call of Duty: Black Ops, which has been suffering from severe lag and skipping problems.

According to tech savvy players the problem is related to CPUs, which are often found running at 100% during gameplay, causing skipping and lag.

The update, which was released through Steam, improves performance for dual and quad core systems, reduces GPU hitching on certain graphics cards and makes tweaks to servers to reduce overall lag, says Activision.

The PlayStation 3 version of Black Ops has also reportedly run into a number of issues related to the party system as well as a number of network and game performance issues.

Patch helped big time for me. Eliminated all the glitchiness and they fixed the server browser.

Zombies is like CodWaW: you can join a game or host your own private game.

Call of Duty: Black Ops GPU & CPU Performance In-depth:
http://www.techspot.com/review/336-cod- ... page9.html

Bottom line: Any PC that can run CoDWaW can run Black Ops just fine. It's basically an enhanced CoDWaW engine. The issues people are still having are related to bugs affecting multiple processors which they have partially patched but it hasn't fixed it for everyone.

I also suspect that since the servers are all run my one company (Gameservers) that the high usage is effecting their bandwidth.

The past 3 nights though have been very smooth gameplay.

After playing this for a week I can tell you that IMO it's a worth replacement to MW2 - especially since you can run dedicated servers (although you have to lease the server). Everyone one I'm playing with from the RAW clan is enjoying it. We now have 12 people we all know on MissShadows HC TDM server just about every night.

I'm liking the game physics and the way you purchase weapons.

Oh and they have hardcore Domination, which in this game is REALLY fun. The maps are not as simplistic as COD4 & MW2. Instead of only a few limited paths between bases, there are LOTS of routes. The maps have a LOT of interesting cover and it will take you a while just to discover all the interesting locations you can climb up on.

If any of you are sitting on the fence, let me say the game is worth it.

It does require Steam even if you buy it retail, but it doesn't use Steam's matchmaking system as it has it's own built in system.
