Prince of Persia Graphics card

So my GF's kid got this game for Xmas and he thought his system supported it. Well it doesn't. The specs on the back of the case only shows pci express currently supported. Well, he doesn't even have a PCI-e slot, just AGP 8x and PCI slots.
I have found a PCI card that appears to meet the specs required to play the game, before he buys it I would like to know if anyone knows if it will work?

It is
PNY VCG84512SPEB GeForce 8400 GS 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Video Card

and can be seen here

if not this one, then suggest a cheaper alternative?

We tried to force the current Nvidia FX5200 in the PC to work with the 3d analyzer software but failed...

Any decent AGP card should play the game. When you say "doesnt support it" Im guessing you have installed it an it wont even start or gives some sort of error? PCI would be even slower than AGP.

Yes, we installed it, and when it trys to launch it tells us the graphics card does not have Shader model 3 and is incompatible. The load stops right there.

Your link refers to a PCI model. AGP will be faster than PCI. I'm surprised that you can't find an AGP interface.

I found this one which is 256mb (AGP)

But in the reviews it says "DO NOT BUY THIS CARD IF YOU WANT TO PLAY GAMES"

There are three more which are 512(AGP), but ridiculously expensive for playing a 50.00 game..

What I found:
* Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:
ATI RADEON X1600*/1650*-1950/HD 2000/3000 series
NVIDIA GeForce 6800*/7/8/9 series
The one EvilHorace linked to would be within the support list. All those others you linked are on the list as well. That is about the going price for a video card, cheaper actually than the good majority. If you don't want to spend that kind of money, than clearly consoles are for you...

The one I bought is AGP. My motherboard is older and doesn't have a PCI Express slot either.

No, some of those models come in AGP. Such as the one EvilHorace bought.

That one isn't even on the supported list of video cards...

I hope it hasn't shipped yet, because it's not exactly a gaming card (unless you play something pretty old). I'd actually recommend ATI for this one because they have better legacy support.

It looks like you're devoted to newegg, so try this:

or this if you don't like rebates:

That card worked fantastic and is a good choice for someone who does not have the PCI-E option.
