The classic home computer and gaming brand Commodore is back, in the guise of a handheld device sporting downloadable arcade games.

The much-traveled brand is now owned by Commodore International Corporation (formerly Yeahronimo). The company has used CES to detail its new product; the Commodore Combo.

The device is being offered with five 8-bit games included, and another 90 or so available for online downloadable purchase. It comes with a 20GB hard drive running Windows CE, and offers GPS functionality.

Commodore says it wants developers to create content for the devoice, which will then be sold via kiosks in selected retail outlets.

Here is a little bit about Commodore:

Awesome! I wish I could find a good emulator for the C64.. There were a ton of games on it I used to love playing, not limited to Pitfall and Pitfall II as well as "Ninja" lol

The Commodore PET 2001 was my first computer... predates the C64:

I'm more interested in the GP2X

It's very new, but it's got a large user support. You can play Duke3D and Quake on it. You can play Divx/Xvid on it. and emulators for Commodore, Mame, Snes are working and are being improved on...

Thats great.

My first was a C64...

those were the days,
Just enough knowledge to be dangerous.

I trashed my first game disk by notching it so I could save the game...

from there it was no turning back, I had saved over the original starting settings!!!

Ya tape drives until we could upgrade to a 1541 5.25" disk drive. was a slow mythodical piece of hardware very sensative and prone to heat so I did my first mod ever by installing a 80mm fan to the top of it to extract hot air away from it. Another cool game i played was 7 cities of gol from EA I beleive.
