Anyone playing Farcry ? It's a hell of a game. Very hard too. I am stuck on the reactor stage. I push the button to blow the place up and after that, I get whacked by the enemies in the next room. I have the game on "easy" too. :D

I got it but I stopped playing because I am having the sound issue that is plagueing so many. I dl'ed the patch and that did nothing either. I can't hear the guns firing after about 3 minutes of play time. I have tried dropping the sound hardware acceleration down a a notch and that did nothing. Has anybody expereincd this issue? Graphically it is beautiful.

I had the same sound issue with the demo. Not happy to hear the retail game has it.

What sound card you using? I'm using the onboard Nforce2 sound on my mobo.

I'm playin it, pretty good game overall, no probs with it. Amazing graphics and some original stuff, nothing mind blowing tho, it's one of those play it once type of games, to me anyway...

Beat it a couple of days ago, really fun game. However the ending left much to be desired...(very abrupt).

A sucky ending seems to be the norm for games.

Yup, I finished both FarCry and Splinter Cell 2, both were good games that had very ho-hum endings...

Just d/l the demo. This thing is choking my system No sound issues but the video is so choppy it is almost unplayable. Running on a XP2500+@3200+ speed with an ATI 9600 Pro with 256 megs of video ram and a gig of system ram. Even lowered the resolution to 800x600 and it still plays like a slide show :(

I have not had this much fun with a FPS since Half-Life.

I'm loving this game. I'm putting off playing anymore until I have some time to install my new Radeon 9800XT - I want to play the rest of it with more eye-candy turned on.

Yeah, I REALLY am enjoying this game as much as I first enjoyed HL 5 years ago. It's FUN replaying levels to see if you can do better. It's REAL nice that all the maps are so HUGE and you can wander off the trail a ways. You never feel you're coming up against an artificial barrier as you do in some FPS games.

A couple of times I've just enjoyed the hell out of leading some bad guys around on a merry chase through the jungle. Take some pot shots at the, crawl to another spot, toss a stone, crawl somewhere else. Try to sneak up behind them and slit their throats. Also very satisfying making a good nade toss - like in HL. Lots of fun.

I thought the save game system would be annoying but actually it works well. The only time I haven't minded a save-point saved game system. I actually prefer it in this game - makes it more challenging but, unlike other games that use this system, it saves often enough to avoid being annoying.

There's a LOT of HL type moments. For instance I fell off the japanese air-craft carrier into the water before figuring out how to lower the speed boat. I was pissed at first figuring I'd have to climb through the ship again or go back to a previous save point, but then I tried shooting the davit ropes with the sniper rifle and it worked! Boat dropped into the water and I climbed in. I just love it when there's an open-ended way to do things like that.

BTW: Those of you using Radeon cards - make sure to install the latest Catalyst drivers (4.4) - there's a lot of performance fixes in them for Far Cry.

lol FP i did the same thing you did on that carrier. Definately a well done game. Once the 9500 Pro i bought from Vid shows up i plan on playing it again. only this time running it in direct x lol :D
