Anybody here beaten Quake (original)

Ok, I have just beaten the original Quake. Only problem is, I have no idea how I did it! Im playing around with that Shub-Niggarath character (after I've beaten all the baddies) I'm walking around, I go through the portal I went through time and time again (which just teleports you closer to Shub-Niggarath) but this time I reappeared inside her and she blew to hell! Then the game said "Congradulations" etc, etc. I beat the game, but I don't know what i did.

I mean, I passed through that portal many times before and I didn't win. Anybody ever beaten this game and remeber what you did?

BTW, this game absolutly rocks with the OpenGL patch 1280x1024 rocks on my Radeon

On the final level you should see a little spiked ball floating around. If you pass through the portal when the spiked ball is passing through Shub-whatever, you will kill him/her/it.

Yeah you telefragged it, the only way to kill it. Kinda cool, but once you know how to do it, it's too easy...

ah yes, very easy. Hehe, just went back and played it. Beat it in under a minute Now for some online play, I haven't done that in years!

Well darn. I would blast away and away at that staypuff marshmello blob and nothing ever happened. I never did kill it but I didn't like that blob or final level anyway so I'd always go back to other parts of the game.

I beat it ages ago but I cheated (I know, shame on me )as I usually do when playing singleplayer shooters. I'll start by not cheating but after a while I'll tired of being fragged, saving and returning to saved spots so I'll add heath, weapons, amo (usually not god mode) and go from there.
I STILL have yet to finish Q2. I was trying a while back until I ran into a problem where I'd go into a level the video would screw up everytime. I've now re-loaded Q2 (etc) so I just need to find out how to level warp to where I was and finish it.

Ah yes, Quake2. I remember the day I beat that game. I was so proud, hehe. It was two years ago on New Years Eve. I didn't use any cheats or anything. Boy that was a blast. So far I have beaten every Quake game without cheats

I found the "Well of Wishes" in Quake. What you have to do is select nightmare level (which is a secret in itself) and then in the level "The Crypt of Decay" you can find a secret and this is what you find:

How do u select "nightmare" level in Quake? I know u can in one of the mission paks but I didn't know u could in Quake.

Ok, I didn't have to go into this much detail, but I figured it would help ya out. And since you are giving me a game for free, in a sense I felt obligated to do so Ok, here we go.

This is where you start out right when you get into the game. Now, what you do is go into one of the three difficultly levels. It doesn't matter right now. Just because who I am, I choose hard.

Now, after you go into one of the three portals, it takes you to the room where you select which episode you want to play. What you have to do is turn to the right and choose the fourth (last) episode.

Once you get up the stairs, there is a pool of water. Here is where it gets just a little bit tricky. Not too hard if you know what you are doing. What you have to do is look down and stick as far to the left as you can (depending on how you look at it)

Once you get in the water, take it easy and it will be very simple. Now get as close as you can to the side and just let yourself sink. Soon you will fall out of the waterpool and land on a plank of wood.

From that plank of wood, you just follow it until you hit the "doorway." You can see I shot where the "doorway" is located. Once you get in there, it will look something like this:

That is how you pick the hardest difficulty in the game. The difficulty I played on <img src=http://www.hipnotictranz.homestead.com/files/evil.gif>. If you want to access the well of wishes, you have to hit the faces on the wall right before you select the "NIGHTMARE" difficulty. Shown here:

One word of warning: there is a bug in Quakeworld (which is optimized for on-line play) whereby you may unknowingly speed cheat. Be sure to dl and install v.2.33 (from [url]http://www.quakeworld.net).[/url] If you are gl capable I stongly recommend dling the Quakeforge .exes (v.2.40) with nice new gl effects and net code. http://www.quakeforge.com
