That's pretty spiffy. Spent a bit over an hour playing it with my daughter. She seems to love it. I had to build a tower for her castle (big into Rapunzel).

Some of the guys are clearing and flattening a HUGE area for a giant project later on. They're using TNT to clear it (makes for some fun explosion effects and lags the server).

To temporarily fill the area, someone built some old-school 8-bit gaming characters.

Must see funny video: TNT Animal Cannon
Unfortunately it doesn't work properly in multiplayer so we haven't replicated it:

Yeah, I've learned that clearing land is a rather tedius, but necessary process. Spent about an hour clearing what I did above without TNT.

It's both impressive & sad that people put so much effort into shooting animals (not so much because of cruelty, but more due to the time spent).

I picked it up a couple weeks ago and have just been messing around in single player.Still haven't found any diamond :( I did build a portal to the nether though with the lava/water trick for making Obsidian without diamond tools.

I jumped on a couple small servers but working together without vent/TS is annoying.

Diamond is mostly found in within 10 -15 layers of bedrock (the bottom of the world). You have to dig deep for it. The minecraft wiki is your friend: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting

There are huge caverns - if you find one, you will find a lot of ore in the walls exposed. The cavern algorithm concentrates ore in the walls. Some of the really big caverns corkscrew from near the surface all the way down to bedrock. Caverns are very fun to explore, although until you have good armor, weapons and skillz, it is best to explore caverns with a friend. That way if you get killed your buddy can pick up your stuff.

On our server we also have teleport enabled so that if you die, you can immediately teleport back to your buddy.

Same here so far. No diamond, but found a fairly large deposit of obsidian.

I've setup a PCA Minecraft server. Poopie's is getting rather developed (there's still lots of room, but downtown is pretty built up).

Got a hankering to start fresh without all the fancy plugins. Play a purer game. Although I still have massive projects I'll be working on in Poopie's server with Dante (we're thinking of making a Space Shuttle).

PM me if you're interested and I'll give you the IP for my server and our Teamspeak info.

Los says he saw you on but you didn't respond to chat messages and that you wacked him. No worries, he said he had some fun with you with his bow.

Be aware PvP is on but we don't fight each other unless there's a bounty put out on someone (and no one really is using the bounty system so we'll probably turn off PvP). I know on some public servers fighting is normal.

Oh, and be polite and close doors behind ya. Becomes second nature after a while. No fun coming home to find a creeper in your living room :)

Yeah, I looked around a bit. Saw someone, but didn't know how to chat (only played single player). Though that clicking on him might enable chat, but instead I punched him. So, I just kept wondering & he kept following (it weirded me out a bit). He got me a few times with the bow, but I sure couldn't see where he was shooting from. I always close doors out of habit already. I don't know if it's rude, but I checked out a few chests out of interest, but took nothing.

If a chest isn't locked feel free to look, but don't take unless it says "free armor" or something. There's a few freebie chests laying around.

Check your keyboard binds - I forget the default key for talking.

Didn't see a chest with a sign yet. I'd feel bad taking stuff anyhow. Funny, the stuff some people have stored is way cooler than the stuff I've managed.

Oh & I found the key. It's "T". Odd that it wasn't shown in the options.
