Nice RMA experience with Motorola.

Post by FlyingPenguin »

I cracked the glass on my 11 month old Moto-X phone while in the Bahamas. No biggie - the screen still worked as did touch. Just an ugly diagonal crack across the glass. Could have replaced it locally for $160.

Since the phone was still under the factory warranty I RMA'd it directly with Motorola. Motorola (all manufacturers actually) have a $100 replacement fee for physical or water damage. That's fine. I originally bought this phone out of contract for full price. I also took the Advance RMA option, and I had the replacement phone in 3 days.

This was all the more amazing because the replacement was a new phone, and was customized to the specs of my original phone. My original phone was a "Designed-by-you" custom model, I ordered through the Moto Maker site on the Verizon store. It has custom colors on the case, buttons & trim, as well as a Bamboo back cover with my name etched on it, and the boot screen has my name on it. The replacement was exactly the same.

The hundred bucks was well worth it just to get a phone with a new battery. My old battery was fine, but heck, I'll take a new battery.
