PowerAmp is worth the $5.00 price tag. There is also a 2 week try before you buy. This app supports virtually all audio formats and bitrates.

Both of my '90s era Volvo's do that as-is. A maintenance light comes on every 5K miles (run synthetic so OK). Otherwise, the sticker works too.

I try not to go app crazy as they can slow down your phone. Not to mention the fact that the Android market is like the wild west. No one is actively vetting those apps, so read lots of reviews, and make sure that a lot of people have used them and found no nasty trojans in them.

- Watchdog Task Manager Lite (FREE): Keeps tabs on CPU usage and will give you an alert if an app is using too much of the CPU.

- Google Goggles (FREE). Allows you to safely scan bar codes, labels or QR codes:

- Flashlight (FREE). If your phone doesn't come with one. Turns on the camera LEDs which make a pretty bright flash light. Can't tell you how often it's come in handy:

- Assistant (FREE). Siri-like app for Android. Ask her a question and she tries to answer. I tried to use it, but it doesn't let me do hands free emailing, so I use Voice Control instead (see below):

- Voice Control: I find this useful because it allows me to do a variety of things completely hands free via my bluetooth headset. It's a much better voice recognition system than the one that comes with my phone's voice dialer. It also lets me do things other than make calls like send text messages or emails. I email notes to myself all day long, so I find it handy. You can even setup custom voice commands.

- ES File Explorer File Manager (FREE). Allows you to look at the folders on your memory card and view files with it's own file viewer:

- Wifi Analyzer (FREE). Nice Wifi scanner, signal meter, etc. Tells you all kinds of info and is an easier way to select and connect to a Wifi network:

- Audible App, if you're into Audible audio books

One more:

- BeyondPod Podcast Manager (FREE). Allows you to schedule podcast downloads, manage them and play them. Highly recommended by friends. I only have it installed as a backup in case I'm stuck out on the road somewhere without my iPod Touch, which I use for listening to Podcasts.

I swear that I use the flashlight app 10x more than any other.

I found Bsplayer free worth trying. It can play a decent amount of video content and supports subtitles.

If you are in to it and you phone supports it, Grand Theft Auto III is fun to play.

Other games which are are Army of Darkness Defense, which is based on the movie. Marble Saga is another, it is like Zuma.

If you have a Roku, the app is nice, supports music playback to your Roku, and allows you to use your phone as a remote. Another app called Ringtone Maker to use your own music to craft up some ringtones.

For more games, Fruit Ninja is quite fun as well. Available with ads for free, or a paid version via their website, is Droidemu. It is an emulator that supports Nes, Snes, GB/C/A, GameGear, and Genesis. Another app that you can buy and use in conjunction with this is Sixaxis Controller. This allows you to use a PS3 Bluetooth controller on your Android device.

Another free game is called Domination. It recently added online play, it is a game much like the board game Risk.

If your phone is rooted, CPU Tuner is nice to have. It allows you to control the processor and power saving settings to maximize your battery life.

There simply is a plethora of great apps/games on the market, sometimes just a little searching and playing goes a long way!

Forgot about this one. I use it on my main desktop of my tablet. Not sure if it's practical on a phone.
