Acer Laptop Problems

Hi,
I've recently bought my daughter an Acer 5002 WLMi for her schoolwork. It's cheqp and cheerful, but she is a bit too young for anything more capable (and more expensive).
We have two problems.
1. The 60GB HDD is partitioned, and uses FAT32.
My guess is that the best way round this would be to reformat to use NTFS, & reinstall XP into a single partition. Unfortunately Acer do not supply a Drivers Disc, only their "Recovery Discs".
2. Whenever the laptop is rebooted, even though we have reset it, the IE Home Page returns to a global Acer Website.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice.

first.. check the acer site for drivers.. should be there.. did a quick search.. and didn't find anything on that modle.. but you will need the drivers to do a reinstall..

issue #2... is a much simpler fix.. DITCH IE..... get Firefox.. http://www.getfirefox.com it's much better.. and safer..

hope that help..

Found this on this laptop by another user installing XP64 on it: Perhaps that can help your quest for drivers?

broadcom 802.11g network adapter -> still searching for drivers
Realtek AC`97 audio -> I found and installed the 64bit drivers
Texas Instruoments PCI-1410 cardbus -> drivers installed by xp64
Sis 900 based pci-fast ethernet -> drivers installed by xp64
Slimtype DVDRW SOSW-833S -> drivers installed by xp64
SIS M760GX (graphics) -> to my surprise sis had a 64bit driver for it!
http://www.sis.com/download and follow the step by step.
Agere Systems AC`97 modem -> don't use it, so don't care.
