Toshiba

Post by swinada »

Friend of mine wants a new Laptop with 17" screen, and he wants the best of the best for working with Home Video files and pictures. (he has no clue about computers) and he wants a Toshiba since his old one which burned down in a trailer fire was a Toshiba too. The stores he is dealing with apparently dont want to sell him a Toshiba but are trying to talk him in to an HP. So he asked me if I would help him find something. I was looking at the Toshiba website and found Qosmio line of laptops. I have no experience with Windows Media Centre, do regular programs like Office and what soever function properly with WinMC?
Does anybody have any real live experience with this line of computers?

It sure sounds sweet, and if i had that kind of cash available I probably would be tempted to buy one for myself.

here recently i've seen alot of trouble with toshibas, especially the 40gig hd's, they keep dying. Maybe the Qosmio is different.

Well he got out and bought the Top of the line model. 2x100GB SATA drives...........
Paid over $4000 canadian with taxes. AUA
I'm sure he'll show up at my doorstep in a few days and wants me to explain to him how his computer works. And He'll be back on a regular basis cause he forgot again what I showed him. :(

you should redo the system, and set the drives to raid 1.

Got to play with this baby today....wow...what a screen...i wish my DELL 19" screen would be that nice. Really I think there is nothing better outthere then what you get with this laptop. Clearer and crisper then anything else I ever saw before.
Now I have to find out if Toshiba makes screens like that in big, and I would be off selling my DELL i just got for X-Mas.

I have no clue about RAID systems, so I'm not even gonna touch that. And I hope he keeps his fingers away from that too. :)
