I am assuming you have no restore disk?

if not try another copy of WINXP maybee the lappy CDRom don't like the copy you are using.

yup no restore disk daman

i have searched the web for hours and no solution!
i have a retail copy of windows xp as well as a reinstallation windows xp cd from dell
if i try to run asr or anything, after the system inspects my hardware, i get the ntfs.sys error

i also have no floppy drive, but i could get that no problem, if needed for the solution.
thanks alot, more input appreciated!

IF you want to reformat/reinstall windows (crappy option unless you do it alot..like me), then you need to delete the partition that windows is installed on and completely reformat. that means making a new ntfs partition.

you might want to find the drive diagnostics utility for your hdd, and run that. if it says it's damaged, then RMA dell.
