PCMCIA Laptop Cooler

Post by pherako »

Guys-

In my Dell 5150 the HD is real close to the GPU so under HEAVY HEAVY heavy load, the GPU throws errors.
Since the HD is mounted right above the PCMCIA slot (PC card), I think my system could really benefit from a PCMCIA cooler. I'm aware of Antec's Laptop cooler, but im looking for something smaller.

The downside to plugging a fan directly to the 5v supply in the PCMCIA slot is if the card doesnt communicate with the mobo for 2 minutes after drawing current from 5vss, the south bridge turns off the slot to prevent battery drain, so the card would have to communicate with the computer... maybe implement a temp sensor and fan speed control.

anyone know where i can find one?

thanks,
peace, yo

I have yet to see anything that small. You can remove the current heatsink, and reapply thermal past. (don't use any version of Arctic Silver)
