DO you get any errors? Using the new drivers? Have you tried the new ATI 4.1 DVD Player?

Have you tried another software dvd player?

Installed the latest directx and is dma checked for your dvd drive?

If you have no other software player I'd try installing the ati media again and if no go then I'd try different drivers.

And are you sure the DVD drive is working, can you see the files from a movie under my computer.

Not good having a hard time seeing cd and dvd drives, that is probably the main problem there. What mobo do you have? Have you tried the latest bios and any other drivers?

I'd do that if you haven't and/or remove the dvd drive from device manager, reboot and go into your bios and check that it's set to auto and let it find it again. DMA should show, something isn't right. If no go then I'd try another cable and maybe ide channel too. Hope you get it going.. :)

chances are win98 has native support and doesn't need the intel bus master drivers...
if the intel bus masters are installed... you prolly won't see the DMA settings on the device anymore..
btw... is it just not there or is it greyed out?

go to the Asus website, they usually have a link for the BM drivers for the motherboard. that motherboard uses the 81x controller correct ? if so you will need them, becasue win98se doesn't include them.
