I'm gonna want to see some real world reviews and benchmarks, and I would prefer to wait for an EVGA model, but...

So um, what case would I need to fit a 3090 in it? Does it get it's own case?

I don't really see the point in the 3090. For twice the price of the 3080 it's certainly not going to give you twice the performance, AND it needs 3 slots.

No, I'll wait for EVGA to come out with an overclock or superclock 3080. I expect their cooler to be better as well. That stock cooler doesn't impress me.

I think the big one is the memory. I was reading that for MSFS, you need something like 12 or 16GB to really max out the graphics at 8K. Or something like that. But yea, I'll wait for EVGA as well.

Here's EVGA's cards. I'm really thinking about one of their 3080's. I wish it had a bit more ram on it though.

Some interesting observations here, including the apparent lack of SLI support in all cards except the 3090. They also point out that the reference cooler essentially blows all the hot air over the CPU. That's why I'm more interested in EVGA's solution which appears to be more traditional.

Additionally it looks like NVidia is comparing performance to the 10xx line and not be even mentioning the 20xx series. Granted the performance improvement over the 20xx line is probably not so impressive, but then again, NVidia also knows that most people who will buy a 30xx is going to be upgrading from a 10xx. A lot of people like me are still on 1080s or 1070s, and skipped the 20xx entirely.

There's a lot of hype about crazy high refresh rates, but honestly I think that's all BS. Having gone from a 200 to a 120 hz Gsync monitor, I don't see it as a big deal. I cap most of my games at 90 fps just to maintain a smooth framerate. Anyone with a 200Hz monitor is not going to see any need for 400Hz. What people really want is higher resolutions.

This sucks because all of the cards are going to be scooped up by resellers as soon as they go live. It's not that I need a card on day one but I would like to get in a queue for one.

I've also seen that that only the 3090 has SLI. To me that makes no sense. I'd be more likely to buy a 3080 or 3070 and pick up another card later than buy 2 x 3090.

In that video they pointed out that the columns for SLI didn't say 'no' they were just a hyphen. so they were wondering if that meant that the reference boards weren't going to have SLI but maybe SLI would be an option on third-party boards.

I'm in no rush. Everything I play now runs fine on my 1080. Just be nice to get some extra frames in Killing Floor 2 and a couple of others.

And I'd like to move the 1080 over to the workstation now that Any Video Converter properly makes use of the GPU for transcoding. Still running a GTX 760 on that PC.

Looks like there's going to be more RAM in the Ti versions. Lenovo leaked a list of cards that can be ordered with their gaming PC and one of them is a GTX 3070Ti with 16GB:

One of NVidia's own slides showing the major heat dump onto your CPU and RAM with the reference design card. Might not be an issue if you have a top mounted fan and vent, but you would need a lot of air flow.

Err: Looks like EVGA cards will have SLI. There's a graphic at the bottom of this page that shows an animated exploded view of the card. You can clearly see an SLI connector on top.
