I'm glad it's outperforming the 1080 that FP and I have by a mile. It means it's upgrade time. In addition, we both gain RTX and DLSS technologies. The GTX cards can't do those.

Now to log into EVGA tomorrow to see that the scalpers have grabbed up all the cards.

EVGA had their list up: https://www.evga.com/products/productli ... t=RTX+3080

"out of stock" lol. The silver lining is with these coming out, the prices on the older cards will drop. Hell I'd be happy with a 2080TI

I wasn't able to get one. Evga's site wouldn't even load.

Not a single EVGA member was able to get a card: https://forums.evga.com/The-site-constn ... 81419.aspx

The bots got them all.

Embargo lifted on EVGA card reviews. Same performance as the founders edition, but lower fan RPMs and less noise due to the traditional cooling system.

To be clear, ALL cards blow heat into the case - only a part of the hot air comes out the rear vents on the card.

But with the classic design cooler, the hot air is vented out around the edges (down towards the PCIE slot, forward towards the drives, upwards towards the case side cover). The founders edition cooler only blows out the rear vents of the card, and towards the CPU and RAM (top of the case).

Most reviews are saying that the heat dump on the CPU and cooler don't seem to be a problem as long as you have good airflow, and even with the classic cooler you need good airflow. Gaming PCs need, at a minimum, one front intake fan and one rear exhaust fan, and they should be good efficient (and quiet) 120mm fans. That's how my case is setup, with a couple of 120mm Noctua fans front and rear.

I still prefer the classic cooler design. If it works, don't fix it.

He also mentioned in that video that the minimum requirement of a 750watt PSU is more than adequate considering what he saw for current drawn. He thinks NVidia actually went a bit high recommending a 750 to play safe since some people may have a monster CPU and a crap load of spinning iron drives.

Just checked Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... w=gtx+3080

I'm pretty sure it's a violation of their rules to post something for sale you haven't yet received, so I gotta wonder how you can have any faith that an Ebay seller will actually be able to deliver the card.

I guess there will always be a few people who can't resist instant satisfaction and will buy an over priced card, but I hope most of these sellers get burned. I can wait. My 1080 is doing the job. This will just be a nice upgrade after a generation skip. Even if I have to wait until next year, that's fine. Who knows? By then the 3080Ti might be out and might be more attractive.

Funny thing is I think there's more going on than just scalpers with bots. I had auto-notify turned on for all the EVGA models on Newegg's site, and they never sent me an email.

If you check the forums over at NVidia and EVGA, not receiving a notification was common. I was refreshing EVGA's page at 9:00 EST and nothing ever became available for me. Then, the site crashed.

I'm disappointed but I'm also fine. I haven't been playing much lately. I was looking forward to playing Control with Ray Tracing and DLSS on. Like you said FP, the TI version may be out by then. Who knows? I may just bite the bullet and get a 3090.

I think that NVidia prohibiting pre-orders screwed this launch. I would've happily put my pre-order in and wouldn't have minded waiting until the cards were in stock. Nobody can even get in line for this launch.

You'd this the FTC would get involved with internet bots. NVidia is manually reviewing orders for the Founder's Edition. I don't know if the other manufactures and retailers are going to follow them.

Nice .I like the side by side comparison. Nice improvement in Metro Exodus, which is the game I'm interested in.

Looks like the 3080 gets impressive framerates with RTX & DLSS 2.0 enabled in Control, which is a single player game on my radar, and takes real advantage of RTX, with it's creepy lighting. The game was only barely playable with RTX on the 2080 at 4K.

This guy compares a lot of games with RTX in and off. Skip ahead to the 7 minute mark for the results in Control.

Lot's of sites have done comparisons in performance between running the 3080 on PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 and it makes so little difference, it's meaningless (maybe a couple of FPS in most games) so don't let that bother you. Any decent gaming mobo made in the last 9 years or so supports 3.0, so even an old box will benefit from a 3080 upgrade.
