Hey, I just got my first "VIVO" card.

I'm trying to figure out what application I can use to view/capture video from the video-in port.

I've installed every last piece of software that came with the card and nothing....

When I bought this, I was also sort of under the impression that VIVO cards would take the sound from a composite/s-video source and hand it to the sound card, a la AIW. However it doens't look like it even has this capability. If I can't get this to work then I'll have a card for sale very soon

You should have gotten some ATI video player. If not, any video capture app will work. Just fire up WinXP's Movie Maker and try a capture.

There is no audio on the composite or s-video cable. Some people are under the mis-impression that the s-video carries audio, but it doen't. You need to run a seperate cable from the video source device's (VCR or whatever) auto output jacks to the line input on the computer's sound card.

They all work this way except for TV tuner cards which sometimes have their own audio input jack, although it's usually just a pass-through to the line input on the sound card.

Thanks. Yeah, it didn't come with ATI Video player or TV Player, which I found a bit odd...

Edit: I was hoping to plug my PS2 into my video card to play it on my monitor, so all hope is not lost. I am running Win2000 by the way. I suppose, for the audio, like you say I could probably get an RCA to 1/8" adapter, no?

Don't know how good the PS2 will look. I know some people who do that so you'll just have to see. The video capture is likely to be 640x480 or 720x480. If you stretch it full screen there will probably be some artifacting.

Yes, all you need is an RCA stereo to 1/8" cable. Radio Shack has them.

You can probably download ATI's TV application from their website. There's also a free one called AmCAP you can download here: http://noeld.com/programs.asp?cat=video

I got "Cap TV" to display the input. It just won't scale to full screen. I'll try the other thing you linked to. I did find one app called DScaler which some people seem to be getting great results with, since it actually deinterlaces the output on the fly.

With a little tinkering, AMCap works!!!! Thanks. I'm still trying to get dscaler to work for me... seems to support ati rage theater, but won't display the input...
