Need help installing my card!
Need help installing my card!
My 9600 XT arrived today and when i try to run the setup for it I get this error "Setup was unable to complete the installation. Try to setup your display adapter with a standard VGA driver before running setup" so what do I do???

ok, unistall all display drivers for your current computer
Download driver cleaner- boot into safe mode use driver cleaner. I like to run regclean as well
boot back into windows and install the 9600

Weird..
Saphire has nothing to do with it.. I have had this problem myself, and though the above mentioned stuff should work, I think I ended up doing a repair install with the new vidcard and that fixed the problem..

I can't see how that could have anything to do with the card. It sounds like a problem with the driver installer, which is why I recommended downloading the latest ATI driver.
Have you done what it recommended? Have you uninstalled the old driver (and the new one), let it boot into Windows and cancelled the auto driver install (which will make it run in standard VGA mode). Then installed the driver?
Also, as I said before, don't bother with the driver they gave you with the card it's almost certainly outdated. Download the latest Catalyst driver from ATI.COM
Also are you installing the driver using the setup.exe for it, or are you trying to use the Windows driver wizard and just pointing it to the driver CD? The latter will not work. The drivers must be installed first using the setup file, then you reboot and Windows detects the card and installs the driver.
