Is now a good time to buy a vid card??

Post by StEaLtH-X »

Ok.. I'm really wanting a new video card and have more than enough money to buy one.. So would you guys recomend me buying one now?? I was told by a freind and its obvious that they will drop price around and after Christmas.. But will this drop be of a significant value?? Because if the drop is somthing like $5-$20, It really wouldnt matter.. Also what card do you recomend i'm wanting an ATI first off which u guys prolly know.. I was looking at the 9600 Pro.. I have enough money and am looking to spend no more than about $160.. I would like to get shipping within 2-3 days.. Any site that is trustable is fine.. Any links are appreciated...

No new cards from either ATI or Nvidia are scheduled for the next few months {figure March 2004}. So would I wait for a new video card? No. I just got an 128 meg Radeon 9800 Pro.

StEaLtH-X: while the FX 5700 Ultra is a good card, the card for you to get is the Radeon 9600XT. It has a better DirectX 9 implementation compared with the FX 5700 Ultra and does well when AA and ani are turned on.

Hey if you say so.. I got enough $ to buy one.. I will prolly buy off newegg, unless u know a cheaper or better site to buy off.... Also what brand to get of the 9600XT? The cheapest is Sapphire which I know is good its $169, and also there is one for $189 which is ATI and also an Asus which is $219.. But they all got 5 star customer ratings..

I do value it.. There is nothing better than turning all up and playing without a bit of chop.. I bought this old MX 420 for Medal of honor mostly, and I couldnt believe the improvement.. I can only imagine the improvment with the new ones.. I'm really wanting a card that can hand Call Of Duty. I think the 9600XT Can..

So is it settled? A 9600XT? I'd like to buy asap I just want to make sure this is it..

Also keep in mind, and i'm sure you already know that i'll want to be able to run HL2, D3, Max Payne2 and Call of duty without any graphics problems.. No I'm not gonna pump all the setting to the top I just want my games and these future games to look and run smoothly...

It's times like these I'm glad I am not a high end gamer myself :)
I just wish you guys that are would stop driving up all the video card prices :(

Here I am, nice and happy with my ATI AIW Radeon 7500. Maybe a couple simple games, but mostly alot of video capturing is what I want to do. So now I would like to buy another one, but can't find them cheap because of all the high end high priced gamming cards :mad

I mean gee, I should be able to get one of these now for maybe $75 but about the only ones I can find for sale are ATI All-In-Wonder RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB DDR 8X AGP RETAIL and up for alot higher prices, like $220. How much better is the video capture on that than an AIW 7500 Radeon?

Oh well, happy gamming :D
