Nvidia FX Shader: Software of hardware?

Post by NeB »

Pixel shading is a very important thing, and i was wondering if Nvidia can fix there pixel shader through software patches, or is it soley dependant on the hardware shader pipeline? i know ATI have a very good 8bit shader pipeline, and i was wondering which would be better value, 9800pro, or 5900PV, any help would be great, thanks.

The Radeon is the better bet right now they have better performance and less issues.

The latest NV drivers do improve DX9 performance. That said...driver tweaking, optimizating title by title, and having game developers code for their specific paths will only go so far.

Frankly I'd get a 9800 Pro, which is a more solid architecture, and be done with it.
