Hookay, I am getting a Dell for my in laws. With Special offers, overlapping coupon codes and the like it is actually fairly reasonable although I hear bad things about their ^(*(*&&%)^ powers supplies. In any event, they have the following video card upgrades available with a Dell system and I was thinking of upgrading (not for my in-laws but for myself).

New 128MB DDR GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card with TV-Out and DVI [Add $15]
64MB DDR ATI All-in-Wonder® 9000 Pro(w/TV/DVD/Video Functionality) [add $80]
New 128MB DDR ATI RADEON™ 9800 Graphics Card with TV-Out and DVI [add $130]
New 128MB DDR ATI RADEON™ 9800 Pro Graphics Card with TV-Out and DVI [add $310]

Does that seem like a correct price for the 9800 (non-pro) ? Is there really that big of a difference beween the two cards?

Thanks in advance

MrG

I would say that the 9800 nonpro is probably the best buy in there if you do gaming - they can be oc'd and that a lot of horsepwer even at stock speeds - i am running 9500/9600 pros in my main rigs, which are slower, and it's plenty ...

If I could upgrade my video to that for that price, Id snatch it up in a second

That was my thought exactly. GO for the 9800 upgrade (for me!) and then switcheroo video cards with my Radeon 8500 (nothing to sniff at) once the system arrives. Apparently this upgrade is offered on all the current Dell deals even the ones where the system is $449 complete.

Since it is the in-laws I am stuck being tech support anyway, so invalidating the Dell warranty is a non-issue.
