Did they make a BILLION of them or something? Seems like there are more of these than the retail in stores. Why would you make all these samples?

Just curious

I've got one, it lacks the Vivo section, but makes up for that loss by having a default clocking of 215/215 as opposed to the retail 183/183, and the OEM 166/166. Get one if you get the chance, they're less expensive than store bought ones and are actually a little faster.

Actually Bio, most of the ES cards are clocked at OEM speeds. You got a golden nugget :)

From what I've heard and seen with my own eyes, these cards come in a variety of speeds! Hence the "ES" I would assume :)

there's a little canadian store that seems to have a contract with ATi to sell these cards. The store gets them for dirt cheap and they sell it for dirt cheap (relative to a retail one)

They turn a tidy little profit, and us canadians get nice cards :)

at least thats how I got my Radeon AIW, and i assume thats how most others got their Radeons 64 ES's, i could be wrong...

Hey FuNPoLiCe001,

Where is that store? Cause although I will still probably get an ES from Viperoni, I want one of those Radeon AIW samples, cause well I'm a cheap bastard.

Mine was clocked at 166 by default, just turned it up the other day to 183 (retail speed) and it's fine, probably could go higher too I would imagine.

Actually, ATi has a deal with a local gentleman, who then turns around and sells them to a store in downtown Toronto called Above All Electronics. The guy who runs the store, says this arrangement is ongoing, so I plan on picking up a Radeon 2 MAXX for next to nothing, when it comes out :)

ATI still needs to work problems with the Maxx technology.
Radeon 2 is supposed to hit in June.
