I think it sounds nice, and early benchmarks say it's very very fast. I'm sure I'll get one when Doom 3 comes out...

I want to see benchmarks and cost before I think about buying one. Also, I'd love to know what ATI has up their sleeve for their answer to the GeForce FX.

It looks like a nice piece of hardware - i'm going to have to stay 1 generation back for a while - running an 8500 and an 8500dv can't really justify upgrading for some time - even though the new games will be system abusers I get ~10k 3d marks on my current gaming rig - which should allow me to play just about anything, even if i can't do it at 16x12x32

Its all hype right now we'll see what it does once the reviewers get their hands on a ES sample of it. ATI is suppose to have the .13u core 9700 with DDRII sometime in quarter 1 with a faster core and memory speed than it has now. so the competition might just be evening up for a while

When NV30 comes out, ATI should be hot on its heels with another videocard release to do battle with Nvidia. And/or drop the price on the 9700. The heat transfer idea on the new videocard is nice, but bulky in the sense that it'll have to take up two PCI slots.

it looks to me the nv30 is a faster clocked 9700. it has a few extra things and is missing a few extra things. Atleast as far as the previews have included so far. and if ati decides to drop there stuff to .13 micron and slap on some ddr2 we will have some real great chips out.

Looks nice, but I think ATI will have something out to match it. The thing for me is price: $400-500? I think I would rather have an AIW 9700Pro for the same price or less.. Guess I'm waiting for benchmarks, though...

well, power does come with a price, especially for early adopters. But from previous trends, both ATI and NVIDIA knows that consumers are willing to digest the higher prices, so I don't think new videocard prices are going to drop anytime soon. The trend has already been set.
