Too funny. Obviously the work of some middle management wonk with no clue what the field techs actually need. Maybe along with a little kick back from Apple.
For a long time my work laptop had a serial port on it for the few occasions when I needed to connect to a managed switch or some other dedicated piece of equipment that was programmed that way. Haven't used it in a while, but nowadays I carry around a USB to serial adapter for my newer ultrabook.

The last time I bought a phone at AT&T all of the reps were carrying iPads so I'm guessing AT&T got a really good deal. Tablets are great until you need to do real work. I know that some people can work just fine on a tablet but I have a very rough time doing relatively simple tasks on a tablet like selecting text.
