Is it me or are internet prices outrageous? There is no such thing as a 20$ per month plan for basic internet.

Budget cable and DSL is around $35 around here. Pretty low bandwidth, but adequate if you're just browsing, emailing, Facebook, etc.

Interestingly enough for low incomes households they can gain access to 100mbps for $30 a month which isn't bad really. They aren't allowed to actually give it away though.

FCC allowed them to bypass state laws, but the state is fighting back. I mean come on, honestly you know who is paying for those laws, the monopolists. How can it not be considered a monopoly when there is no "real" choice. In many areas you have cable internet with differences in speeds, then super slow DSL. Hardly an option for most people, and these companies charge accordingly.

You theoretically have a choice, but realistically you don't.
When all else fails, replace the user.
