Mine has been crap lately too.. At least when connected wirelessly.. Seriously making me consider purchasing a new modem and router.. I currently have the Zoom modem that FP recommended and a Netgear N600.. I'm LUCKY to get 3mbps on my wireless connections, but I get 100mbps if connected directly to the modem. Haven't tried wired from the router yet, but either way, not impressed since the router should be able to handle the speeds..

Still happy with my Zoom modem.

I can almost guarantee your problem is that N Wireless. N sucked. It never lived up to the hype. It is also extremely range limited and easily blocked by walls. Only way I've gotten 100mbit/s out of N is by using it line of sight. In one case I used it to connect an office in a mobile trailer to the main office across the parking lot. Strictly line of sight, though. The router was in the office window facing the trailer, and the USB N WLAN adapters were connected to ten foot USB extensions and taped to a window in the trailer facing the office. I actually get around 95mbit/s measured with a file transfer and the RacoonWorks network speed test. Move anything out away from the window and you lose 2 or 3 bars and the bandwidth drops down to 20mbit/s.

Lately i've been using high end ($90) Linksys AC routers for customers. I can lookup the model when I get home. You get nowhere near what they claim, but I've easily gotten 100mbit/s.

It's the Linksys EA6350. I DO NOT use the "Cloud" control panel to set it up. You can bypass that and log into the router locally like you could with older routers, with the factory password "admin".

I haven't found a good DD-WRT AC router I can recommend yet, but I need to research that.

Thanks FP! I'll look into that one. :)

It's pricey, and not DD-WRT as far as I know, but I am loving my Asus AC-68R

There is a expanded firmware called merlin for it that enables more options, but even the stock has excellent control. Found it at target on sale for 160 bucks

Going to go over this in detail when I get a chance.
