I have Verizon FIOS, and my bill is $200/m, but that includes TV service including the premium channels. Complete waste of money. We are moving in a few months, and this will go away. I hate paying for a boat load of channels that I don't want to watch. I will miss my FIOS internet service though.

I think internet portion is $65 a month here now on Comcast, for 25/5. I own my own modem so I don't pay the rental. Happy with the service, as long as I don't have to talk to the customer support idiots.

Brighthouse is pretty good around here in Central FL.

Our phone company, CenturyLink, just added their Prism 'fiber' service here and they've been soliciting me pretty hard. Actually had a guy come to the door last week. Blew him off as soon as he told me that their service was 20/3 but they can't guarantee it. Plus it's not cost effective unless you bundle it with their TV and phone right now. I actually use them for phone service, but that's it.

I may hate Comcast's customer service, but their Internet is FAST around here, and very reliable. Better the devil you know. Plus no way I'm changing TV providers. I use CableCard tuners on Media Center PCs.

I have been debating having business class Internet installed, but the current home internet of 25/5 is working well for me (I actually get closer to 28/7 most of the time).

I debated getting a DSL line as a backup once, and writing it off as a business expense, but Comcast is rarely down, and my Verizon hotspot on my phone is amazingly fast here. I get 20/1 most of the time and I actually played Call of Duty Black Ops online with it once during a short outage, and was getting great gameplay with pings of around 90.

AT&T the only real option here. Otherwise you'll have to use a piece of crap company called Advanced Cable. I'm paying for a business Internet, which gives me 5 static IPs & NO LIMIT on my monthly usage. Good for someone that averages 750GB a month. Paying like $90/mo roughly.

Correction: The Internet portion of my bill is $54

I pay $72 a month for the Comcast Blast.. I get 125Mbps wired, not sure what's up with the wireless not getting those speeds, but honestly, I'm not bitching.. For the last week I was getting less than 3Mbps most times if anything.. Went digging downstairs and found a splitter that I had hooked up that was between the main line and the modem and nothing on the other split.. Guessing it went bad, unhooked it and hooked the line straight to the modem and my speeds were back to normal.. Yay! lol Fios would be nice, but honestly, I don't see needing speeds any faster than what I have. We are a stream heavy household though.. DirecTV on demand also uses the internet to play it's content.. There's almost always at least 3 TVs streaming something.

$185, but that's for TV/Internet with premium channels and a few HD boxes (wife's choice). And I own the modem as well, so no rental fee.

Really can't complain about Comcast around these parts (Davie, FL)!

So, here's a question.. Does IPv6 make any difference in speeds? I'm thinking it does not, but I'm wondering why my speedtest went out of it's way to let the world know I'm on v4 lol.. Also, my wireless router is a WND3400 capable of 300Mbps.. On that machine I am using a Wireless N card.

In theory, noit makes no difference. However., since there are fewer IPv6 capable routers on the main pipes, in practice there will be a difference.

For instance, using my Verizon phone as a hot spot, I get much lower speeds on IPv6.

$40/month, but I suspect it'll shoot up here in a few months now that I'm almost finished with my first year with Charter.

Makes sense.. I was just curious.. I've been staying on IPv4 at home for sanity's sake when it comes to remoting into my other computers.
