Switched to Charter Internet
Switched to Charter Internet
Finally a connection worthy of me. That's a clean 20x faster than what I did have.

I wish there was any other choice than Comcast around here. Only alternative is CenturyLink DSL, but even their fastest plans have extremely limited upload speeds (capped around 1Mbit).
I'm perfectly happy with Comcast's performance (and I've been thinking of upgrading to a business plan) but I hate dealing with their customer support.

Funny thing is that I was fine with AT&T till they doubled my price. I called them expecting them to negotiate, but they wouldn't. So, I set up Charter for $10 less a month and the noted speed increase. Then I call to cancel AT&T today and they have the gall to finally offer me a petty $4 off of Charters price. I told them that they should have offered that before I got Charter and the huge speed increase.
But yeah, what I would give to have about 2 more options in the ISP arena.

All I have avail here is some crap called Advanced Cable, which charges ridiculous amounts of money for a fraction of what Comcast offers. Problem is I can't get Comcast here, so I'm stuck with AT&T. My other issue is the AMOUNT of data I transfer monthly. I have to have a biz account and AT&T, like Comcast, have no limits on biz accounts. That Advanced crap has a 250GB limit. That's a deal breaker for me, by far.
I have to admit though, it's been solid the past 2 yrs but I miss Comcast's speeds.

I'm still trailing the pack with my hillbilly dsl from frontier - 2.4 down/.75 up - but they've just run some fiber optic lines in town (where my dsl terminates) - so maybe they can tie my switching station into that. They've completely oversold the dsl capability they have, so prime time is slow time. the Comcast cable is ~2000 ft. down the road but they still want $8k from me to extend the line.... 100 mbs just out of reach.

Go figure that the rioting in St. Louis is causing my internet to go in & out. Supposedly, wires are getting cut. Fortunately, it's only went out a couple times. I'm only about 3-4 miles from most of the action.

Looks like I picked the wrong time to get on the Charter bandwagon.
